About ElectricianMatch
ElectricianMatch (electricianmatchusa.com) is a referral service for homeowners who need an electrician. You tell us the job and the ZIP code, and we pass the request to one independent electrical company that has asked to receive work there.
What we are, and what we are not
We are not an electrical contractor: we employ no electricians, hold no electrical license, set no prices and answer for no one's work. Nor do we claim that any company we send a request to is licensed, insured or bonded, so check that with your state's licensing board before the work starts.
The whole business model is that the company receiving your request pays us for it, and the how it works page walks through the details.
Why we go state by state
Electrical rules are state rules with local enforcement: each state has its own licensing board, adopts its own edition of the National Electrical Code with its own amendments, and leaves permits and inspections to the state, a county or a city depending on the address. A page that gets one of those wrong costs a reader money, so we open one state at a time and write each one carefully.
The city pages use U.S. Census data for housing age and home value, the state's own list of who enforces the electrical code, the state's utility map for the electric utility, and each city's own permit office. Each page names what it used.
Why the cost figures say estimate
We have not collected electrician quotes, so each cost table opens with an estimated range from a model: published national cost ranges, adjusted by what electricians are paid in the state (federal wage data) and by permit fees from published schedules. None of it is a price list or a quote. The editorial policy explains how the estimates are built and when they are re-checked.
Editorial standards
Every guide lists its sources, and an unsourced fact does not run. Rules about permits and codes change, so check with your local electrical inspector and your state's licensing board before relying on any summary here. Read the editorial policy, and tell us if you find a mistake.
